About Tom

I like riding my motorcycle, playing board and video games, music, movies, podcasts, stand up comedy, EDM, and vintage electronics. Rarely, I add things to I live in Brooklyn, NY.

From ten thousand feet: I've been making websites and web apps for about 10 years. Frontend, backend, DevOps: I can build your JS widget, make your site faster, and make it cheaper to run.

I enjoy building exciting visual experiences, both on the web and via novel displays (eInk, projection, arduino controlled LED arrays, billboards, etc).

Currently: I'm a Software Engineer at eBay. I primarily work on the desktop and mobile homepages. I'm typically writing JS in Node with Marko, a reactive, isomorphic Javascript UI framework.

2014 to 2016: I was a principal member and senior developer at PHHHOTO (now HYPNOCAM), a booth and social media app invented by the HYPERHYPER crew. I wore a lot of hats but mostly did backend work in Ruby on Rails, Node, a bit of Go, on a variety of AWS services.

2012 to 2014: Full stack development for HYPERHYPER. There's far too many projects to list here, but some of my highlights are below:

2008 to 2012: Software Developer and/or freelancer for Bundle (now Capital One Labs), Finetune (a Pandora competitor), digital agencies such as Razorfish, and a mobile web developer at MLB Advanced Media.

I earned my BA in Computer Science at Boston University.
